Areas of impact

Access to quality essential healthcare services and medicines: Access to medicines and healthcare services is vital to communities and critical to improving the nation’s health outcomes. InvestFarma provides access to quality, affordable health care products and services for underserved populations. The Company also has the majority of its stores enrolled in Farmácia Popular, a voluntary federal program to allows access to essential medicines at subsidized prices to the general population. In addition, InvestFarma offers basic health services, such as vaccination, blood pressure measurement, health guide orientation, capillary blood glucose testing, and, more recently, Covid-19 testing, playing an important role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Promoting healthcare awareness and preventive care: InvestFarma disseminates knowledge on issues related to the population's health and well-being by promoting awareness campaigns and/or educational activities, especially through its social media. Due to the large number of clients, stores, and municipalities where InvestFarma operates, the promotion of these campaigns can reach a significant number of people, including a portion of the population with limited access to this type of information.

Providing decent employment opportunities in developing areas: InvestFarma is an equal opportunity employer. The Company has a diverse base of employees, provides decent employment opportunities to workers who have limited opportunities in the job market, including youth employment and entry-level positions that do not require high-skilled professionals, and offers training for further professional qualification and development of its employees. Stores are in areas closer to where employees live, bringing traffic and other types of commerce that will generate further employment and economic development to the area. The Company plans to generate further employment to support its growth plan.

Waste generation: Pharmaceutical products can enter the environment at various stages of their life cycle, from the production phase until the discharge, which can cause contamination. Pharmacies have a role in promoting sound and sustainable use of pharmaceuticals by informing and guiding consumers in product choice, use, and correct disposal. As an opportunity to reduce its adverse impact, InvestFarma has implemented systems to collect expired medicines and empty packaging from clients, promoting awareness and a correct destination for the waste. The Company also committed to expand its sustainable practices throughout the investment period and forward.
